The Geeks Games and Greatness: Episode 15 - Stuff

You may have noticed a scarcity of updates.... Well spotted.

Here be the 15th Episode of the Geeks, Games and Greatness Podcast in which we discuss stuff... and... things... I'm pretty sure we cover things too.

I have fallen a bit out of the habit of updating the blog and a trifle behind in editing the podcast. I do, however, have two episodes already recorded, so we will be back to our regular schedule from this week.

How to keep IT workers happy, Part 3

Show some respect. Seriously, the people maintaining and improving your IT infrastructure are not trained monkeys. They are people just like you. They have studied for many years and are experts in their field. They are doing everything they can for your benefit.

If you have a meeting with someone, you should arrive on time. Being late indicates that you don’t value the time of the people who you are making wait. What makes your time more valuable than theirs? They have jobs too. They have projects to finish. They have work to do for you.

And God help you if you don’t arrive at the meeting at all without informing everyone beforehand. That is the height of incivility and anyone who sits around waiting for you is, in my opinion, fully justified to make you wait just as long in the next meeting. Or perhaps they should just put together a report about how long you screw around on Facebook?
